Emily Kozien-Colyer, Manders Law

2021 eprivateclient Excellence Award winning family law practice, Manders Law has promoted Emily Kozien-Colyer as legal director.

Ms Kozien-Colyer has been promoted from senior associate (with effect from 1 March), having successfully completed the firm’s ‘leadership development’ programme.

She joined Manders in July 2019 having qualified with Goodman Derrick, (which, following its merger with Royds Withy King, is to be known as RWK Goodman). A graduate of the University of York, Ms Kozien-Colyer has wide experience in acting for both private individuals and corporate clients; specialising in divorce and connected financial proceedings, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and private child law, she has additional experience in advising on applications for parental orders following international surrogacy, adding strength and depth to Manders’ comprehensive offering.

Manders’ founder and managing partner, Mary-Ann Wright, said: “Emily has been involved in a wide variety of cases, many with an international element, involving complex business structures and family trusts, and disputes around inherited wealth. She is intimately involved with some of our largest, most complex cases and has become an integral part of our senior leadership team.

“We launched the practice in 2018, with the leadership development programme as part of our broad growth strategy, and it is just so rewarding to recognise and develop such a talented young lawyer on her career journey. Emily’s promotion to legal director is no more than she deserves given her contribution to the firm – which continues to benefit from her energy and fresh perspective – and the wise counsel she has delivered to our high-net-worth clientele.”

At the same time, Manders has also appointed Tatiana Amdur as a solicitor. A fluent Russian speaker, Ms Amdur specialises in divorce, financial remedy proceedings and private child law, enabling her to assist families where cultural factors play an important role in negotiating child arrangements and financial division.

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Ms Amdur joined Manders from GN Law where she had spent over four years. She is an accredited member of the Law Society Mental Health, having worked with vulnerable clients.

Ms Wright - named as a 2022 eprivateclient 50 Most Influential – added: “Our big opportunity is to change clients’ views of the way in which astute family law legal service providers can deliver in a different way, achieving their desired outcomes at an affordable price, and where no compromises are made on either quality of advice or the client service experience.

“Emily exemplifies these values and, in a market where good is the norm, understands that this is not good enough and that the key to our continuing success will be to deliver excellence, every day in everything we do.”

Manders Law was established in September 2018 providing family law services, including advice on divorce and separation, children, pensions on divorce, finance and property, alternatives to court, civil partnerships, unmarried couples’ disputes, pre and post nuptial agreements, emergency injunctions, international cases and more.
