The difference of opinion on how open to be with children about wealth and succession plans

Wealthy families obviously have access to advantages that other families do not. However, many want to protect their children from the unintended consequences this can bring. They want their children to be ‘grounded’, to have an understanding of the value of wealth and of the wider world.

This inevitably leads to the difficult question of when is the right time to begin speaking to them about the level of wealth the family has and what it means. In addition, there is the question of when to start to involve the children in the discussion around the future plans for the family wealth and ultimately, estate planning.
