Divorce rates hit decade high following "no fault" legislation

Data released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) yesterday (29/09/22) revealed the number of divorce applications made between April and June 2022 increased 22 percent from the same period last year.

The ONS's quarterly family courts statistics showed there were 33,234 applications made under the new law, with 33,566 applications made in total under both new and old laws.

This was the highest number in a decade, compared to the record low of 107, 724 applications made in 2021...
