Following on from the tenth to sixth most popular people move stories to feature on eprivateclient in 2022, today we look at the top five private client job moves of the year…

5. (25/04/2022) In April, specialist London family and private client firm, Sinclair Gibson, hired James Copson as a partner in its family law team.

Mr Copson joined Sinclair Gibson from Withers where he worked for over 32 years, having been made a partner in the family law team in 1998.

Mr Copson is experienced in divorce and all areas of family breakdown with a particular interest in the resolution of complex financial disputes, including those with international and cross-border elements.

4. (26/01/2022) Boutique law firm Allard Bailey Family Law appointed Siobhan Lomasney to partner in its London team.

Ms Lomasney joined from Fletcher Day, where she had been a partner in the family department since 2020.

She has had a near four decade career, acting for high net work, ultra-high net worth and high-profile individuals, their families and partners.  She is also a litigator with extensive knowledge of civil fraud recovery, including international freezing orders.

Her family law experience includes divorce and the dissolution of civil partnerships, matrimonial finance claims, complex children law matters and disputes between unmarried couples.

3. (07/06/2022) In June, Charles Russell Speechlys made two appointments including former eprivateclient 50 Most Influential Jeremy Arnold as senior counsel as well as Alastair Morrison as a property consultant.

Mr Arnold joined the firm’s tax trusts and succession group in its London office.

He has joined from Withers where he held the position of partner and joint chief executive of the private client and tax division.

Mr Morrison joined Charles Russell Speechlys' landed estate and heritage property group and aims to widen the firm’s experience in this area.

He has over 35 years of experience working with landed estates. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at Burges Salmon where he was head of the rural property team.

2. (10/01/2022) In January, 2020 eprivateclient 50 Most Influential Clare Stirzaker joined Boodle Hatfield from PwC, where she led the Big Four advisory firm's private client legal team.

Ms Stirzaker specialises in succession planning and related legal and tax matters for international private clients and family offices. She works with some of the world’s best privately owned businesses, focusing on how to develop the business and the family's wealth and philanthropic strategy, to achieve growth, diversification and longevity.

Ms Stirzaker has worked at PwC since 2013 having joined from Barclays Wealth where she spent over four years and before that over five years as a private client solicitor at Baker McKenzie.

1. (09/06/2022) In June, private wealth specialist Glen Atchison left UK law firm Harbootle & Lewis where he was its managing partner.

Mr Atchison - who had worked at the firm since 1998 – was replaced as managing partner by Charles Leveque, who had been Harbottle & Lewis’ corporate head.

The firm’s private client department is now led by Jonathan Burt, who has been a partner at Harbottle & Lewis since 2018.

Mr Burt has over 25 years’ experience and was previously a partner at Baker McKenzie until 2007 before Barclays Bank subsequently headhunted him to become a managing director in the bank’s wealth advisory group.
