Director - Private Client Tax
Adam is a private client director who leads RSM’s private client advisory team in Manchester and across the North West. Adam joined RSM in April 2019 having previously worked at PwC in London. He is a specialist in personal tax issues for multi jurisdictional high net worth individuals and families; and acts for many of the firm’s high-profile clients. He manages a diverse range of complex projects for his clients who include entrepreneurs, UK and non-UK domiciled individuals, their families and trusts. Adam was previously featured in the eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 in 2016 and 2020. Adam manages a growing team of colleagues and is passionate about developing the team and is actively involved in the firm’s mentoring scheme to help shape the career of colleagues and future private client practitioners.
Senior Manager, Private Client Services
Alex joined Moore Stephens LLP in December 2018 during the period of time the firm was merging with BDO LLP. Through this, Alex demonstrated his adaptability and capabilities in a time of great change for both himself personally and for the firm. Alex is dual qualified, ACA and CTA, which allows him to advise his clients on commercial aspects, as well as on their tax issues. In the 18 months Alex has been with BDO, he has showcased his skills and knowledge through successfully working with many clients with complex issues. Outside of work, Alex is an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to supporting Spurs and the England cricket team. He is also a big movie buff and enjoys world cinema and can often be found cooking and trying out new restaurants.

Alex has been a manager at Rawlinson & Hunter since joining the firm in 2019. Prior to that Alex worked at BDO for almost four years. Senior Tax Manager
Alex began his tax career in 2007 as a member of the Coutts graduate scheme after graduating from the University in Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Ancient History and Archaeology. While at Coutts, Alex completed his Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) exams before joining its cross-border tax team. After taking a short career break following the completion of a master’s degree in Social and Political Theory at Birkbeck, University of London, Alex joined Frank Hirth in 2015 and is a member of the UK specialist team, with a particular focus advising on residence, domicile and other cross-border taxation issues.
Alfred qualified as a private client solicitor in 2014 and joined Forsters in May 2017 with the Gowling WLG London private client team. He is an accomplished adviser across a broad range of practice areas, with a particular focus on international clients and families. He regularly advises on cross-border estate and succession planning, setting up dynastic trust structures, family governance and business transitioning and UK tax matters ranging from pre-residence planning for non-UK domiciled clients to corporate transactions and restructurings – especially for overseas private investors in UK real estate.
A 2019 eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35, Ben joined Edwin Coe’s private client team as a senior associate in 2017, having previously worked at Linklaters, Barclays Wealth and Trowers and Hamlins among others. He provides professional and attentive on-going support to clients and exhibits a positive and solution-driven approach. His primary focus is on addressing the client’s needs rather than fee-generation. Ben is STEP qualified and also a member of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT).
Educated in Guernsey, Blane began his career with the States of Guernsey Income Tax Authority where he worked as a collections officer. In 2007 he joined PraxisIFM as a trust administrator responsible for a diverse portfolio of complex trust and company structures, primarily focused on real estate, for high net worth individuals. Blane was also included in the 2019 and 2020 eprivateclient Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35 list. In his spare time he is a keen sportsman and has represented Guernsey in several sports, most notably cricket playing in World and European ICC Tournaments and representing Europe’s Academy in Singapore and Mumbai.
Director, Trusts and Estates
Promoted in 2020 to director of trust and estate services, Chris advises over a broad range of matters ranging from IHT and succession planning to business restructurings in collaboration with our corporate team. A qualified probate practitioner, Chris worked both onshore and offshore in the trust field since 2007 before joining Menzies in 2017. His clients cover a broad spectrum of trusts, from small UK family trusts to large non-resident trusts.
Charles Russell Speechlys
Edward has significant and growing specialism in complex trust disputes particularly those with a corporate asset base or those with an international element, drawing on his previous experience with a Mourant Ozannes in Guernsey. He acts for trustees and beneficiaries alike advising on breach of trust claims and the financial aspects of claims and settlements. He is a core member of Charles Russell Speechlys’ pensions litigation team advising on construction and rectification issues as well as claims within pension schemes. He also has landed estate experience dealing with a range of contentious issues involving trust structures and partition. One nominator said that Ed ”is personable, professional and extremely knowledgeable. In addition to expanding his own practice, one of Ed's greatest attributes is that he constantly looks for opportunities to connect various people within his network.”
Ed is a senior associate in Burges Salmon‘s Tax, Trusts and Family team. His practice focuses on international tax planning and trust law. In addition to his this work, Ed has shown real leadership within the industry by driving the private client sector’s response to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and providing advice on its impact for trustees and personal representatives. Ed has quickly established himself as one of the country’s leading experts in this field having founded (and continued to chair) STEP’s Data Protection Working Group and led face-to-face discussions with the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office to put across the case for particular interpretations of data protection law in the context of trusts and estates. Outside work, Ed is a keen rugby fan and will try his hand at most sports (football, cricket, tennis, hockey) and he also plays in the firm’s brass band (trumpet).
Harry joined EY’s private client services team in 2010 and has since worked his way up, being promoted twice in the past four years. In October 2018 he became a senior manager. He has worked in both London and Dubai advising clients on a range of issues. These include: non-UK domiciled individuals; non-UK resident individuals; entrepreneurs and owner managed businesses, including transaction tax advice; and individuals seeking inheritance tax planning. Harry is also a Chartered tax adviser. He was also named an eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 in 2019.
Farrer & Co
Hugh’s work involves the acquisition and disposal of high value real estate, usually in prime central London but often in rural locations, as well as working for banks and borrowers in secured lending transactions. He is part of the residential property team at Farrer & Co where he supervises junior team members and provides support to the partners in more complex transactions. Hugh also works closely with the firm’s banking, private client, family and immigration teams and frequently collaborates with these areas of the firm in fee-earning and in business development activities. Outside of work Hugh enjoys keeping physically active through running, yoga and keeping up with his young son.
Ian is a senior member of Deloitte UK’s private client services team, focusing on complex and wealthy individuals, their family offices and businesses. Ian joined the team in 2008 as a graduate and has progressed rapidly, being promoted to director in June 2017. He leads client facing teams spanning multiple jurisdictions and service offerings and has expertise in the setting up of family office structures and the acquisition of UK real estate. Ian is responsible for new graduates and delivering technical and non-technical courses. He has detailed knowledge of the capital gains and income tax treatment of offshore trusts as well as knowledge of remittance legislation. Ian featured as an eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Iwan advises on a broad range of private client issues including all aspects of estate and succession planning, the creation and maintenance of trusts, Wills, planning for incapacity and Lasting Powers of Attorney. James joined Boodle Hatfield from the private client team at Macfarlanes two years ago and since then has been promoted twice. His practice focuses on disputes and litigation work alongside a strong advisory and restructuring practice drawing upon his private client technical expertise. James is frequently involved with providing bespoke advice in relation to special situations, ancillary to traditional trust and estate law advice. This includes the raising of +$500m project finance in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the sale of a 100 metre yacht, the sale of a bespoke private Boeing 747, and recovering World War II artefacts of national importance.
Private Client Senior Manager
Jamie leads KPMG’s Personal Tax Service (PTS) a digital tax advisory service which he co-created, designed and brought to life when it was launched in May 2019. The PTS is an innovative way to provide high quality tailored tax advice to a broader range of private clients using technology and KPMG’s existing private client technical expertise. Utilising the PTS technology, Jamie created a post-transaction tax advisory service which efficiently delivers tailored tax packs to shareholders – the largest of these projects had 170 shareholders.
Joe is an Associate Director in Deloitte’s Private Client Services team with over nine years’ experience. Joe focuses on the affairs of the world’s most complex and wealthy individuals and family offices with a particular geographical focus on the US and Middle East. He leads teams spanning different service lines to deliver personal tax advice which is multi-jurisdictional by nature. Outside of work Joe is passionate about keeping fit, making time to cycle whenever he can and also spend time with his young family. He appreciates the benefits of a healthy “work-life” balance and actively encourages the next generation of tax professionals to look after their mental wellbeing whilst at work.
Based in Jersey, Luke is a senior associate and member of Mourant Ozannes' international trusts & private client team. Also named as a 2020 eprivateclient Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35, Luke specialises in providing Jersey legal advice, particularly non-contentious trust advisory work, which is typically complex, has an international element and is high-value. He also provides Jersey advice on all non-contentious issues concerning Jersey foundations, wills and probate.
Promoted earlier this year, Matthew has over 10 years’ experience in the finance industry and has spent the last seven years with Louvre Trust (Guernsey) Limited. In this time he has gone from managing a large portfolio of HNWI clients to managing an admin team and assisting them with their client administration.
