Former head of private client at Kingsley Napley fined £15,000 by SRA

The former head of private client at Kingsley Napley, Matthew Duncan, has been fine £15,000 for mistakenly allowing the transfer of over £1.5 million from a deceased person’s estate to his client.

In a joint agreement between Mr Duncan and the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal ordered Mr Duncan to pay an additional £7,500 in court.

Mr Duncan, who has been a solicitor for over 20 years, admitted enabling two separate payments to the deceased’s spouse despite the client being in dispute with the deceased’s children. The deceased was an ultra-high net worth (UHNW) foreign nation...
