Multimillionaire founder of Matalan, John Hargreaves, has made headlines for suing PwC for negligence in their advice on how to avoid paying taxes in the UK when he relocated to Monaco.
Mr Hargreaves has argued that PwC negligently told him that he could work at Matalan’s UK offices and stay in his UK house for two to three nights per week, however this failed to satisfy HMRC’s requirements that Hargreaves is no longer a UK resident.
