Just 10 percent of households can afford nursing costs as social care crisis escalates, Irwin Mitchell report warns

While we all dream of staying forever young, the reality is most of us will get old and require some form of care in our old age, particularly as life expectancy increases and the population ages. 

But this has a cost and more often than not people are realising this too late and finding themselves having to eat into their life savings or rely on friends and family to fund their care.

A new report from UK law firm Irwin Mitchell, compiled by the Centre of Economic and Business Research (CEBR), has highlighted this problem, revealing that just the top 10 percent of households can currently afford nursing costs. ...
