Labour’s tax transparency proposals may not reveal many surprises

Throughout this election campaign Labour have made a raft of tax pledges, many of which relate to improving transparency.

This includes a pledge to publish wealthy individuals’ tax returns.

Mike Hodges, partner at Saffery Champness, noted that the manifesto gives Scandinavia as an example, but in reality, in Sweden, Finland and Norway everyone’s return is public, not just wealthy people.
