National Crime Agency to appeal defeat of £80 million Unexplained Wealth Orders

The UK’s National Crime Agency has been defeated in a UK court in its bid to uphold an Unexplained Wealth Order (UWO) against Azerbaijani businessman AzNurali Aliyev’s three London properties worth over £80 million.

The High Court ruled yesterday (08/04/2020) in favour of the respondents to the three UWOs, secured by the NCA in May 2019, and discharged the orders. The NCA disagrees with the judgment and will appeal.
