Over half of UK charity donations are from high earners

Over half (58 percent) of UK charitable donations declared by individuals last year were made by people earning over £150,000 per year (highest rate taxpayers) according to private client law firm Boodle Hatfield.

Donors made up £1.86 billion of the £3.1billion in charitable donations declared in personal tax returns to HMRC.

Boodle Hatfield LLP stated there is a very noticeable trend for HNWs wanting to make a big contribution back into society and a growing desire, amongst those HNWs, to be seen to being doing good.
