Pandemic lockdowns lead to divorce surge

A total of 113,505 UK divorces were granted in 2021, which is a 9.6 percent increase on 2020 according to latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures.

The family law sector beleives this is linked to the Covid-19 lockdowns.

Kate Daly, co-founder of online divorce service amicable, said there is “no doubt” this increase in divorce is a result of lockdowns putting pressure on relationships.
