Portugal will end its golden visa scheme, its Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced in a press conference on 15 February.

This, Mr Costa said, was to combat the country’s ongoing housing problem.

Rents and house prices have skyrocketed in Portugal.

Last year, more than 50 percent of workers earned less than 1,000 euros per month while in Lisbon alone, rents increased 37 percent in 2022.
