Stamp duty specialist avoided over £30,000 in SDLT, tribunal finds

A principal consultant at one of the fastest-growing UK tax advisory firms has lost his appeal against a first tier tribunal verdict that he avoided tens of thousands of pounds of tax on the purchase of his home.

David Hannah, a principal consultant at Cornerstone Tax, was ordered by the Upper Tax Tribunal to repay £30,600 stamp duty he was found to have avoided, plus a penalty of more than £17,000.
