Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is the latest football star to have launched a lawsuit against HSBC’s private bank division, following involvement in controversial tax-avoidance schemes, according to The Times.
The former England and Liverpool captain is said to have joined other investors including composer Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber in a £100 million lawsuit against the bank, claiming it conspired to defraud them.
The bank is allegedly being sued by a total of 248 wealthy investors who put money in a film investment scheme operated by London-based Ingenious Media which qualified for tax breaks.
