Members of Stonehage Fleming in Jersey joined over 1,300 registered islanders to mark the 30th anniversary of the Around the Island Walk – one of the island’s largest one-day fundraising events.
Ana Ventura, head of family office, Jersey completed the full walk of 48.1 miles in 15 hours 34 minutes and 18 seconds.
Three relay teams comprising Stonehage Fleming family office members Fil Gomes, Miguel Loueiro, Steeve Batista, Bev Stewart, Camilla Stoneman, Jim Jenkins, Leigh Driscoll, Alex Wardman, Karen Oliver Grant Rogerson, Cora Binchy and Mark Swart also completed the full walk of 48.1 miles, coming 2nd, 8th and 10th out of 47 teams registered.
The Around the Island Walk started when 15 intrepid walkers embarked on a clockwise walk around the Island’s coastline starting and ending at Rozel, at midnight on Saturday 22 June 1991.
Seven of the 15 completed the inaugural walk and £1,500 was donated to Jersey Cancer Relief.
Since then, a key objective has been to ensure that every penny raised actually goes to local charities.
Over the past 30 years, over 26,000 walkers have raised more than £2.4 million in sponsorship for 180 local charities.
This year’s charities were: Dementia Jersey, every child, SancTuary Trust, Durrell, Les Amis, Wetwheels Jersey, Caring Cooks, Healing Waves, Jersey Rescue Dogs and Pain Support Jersey.
