Stonehage Fleming supports Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

News Team, 06/07/2022

International family office Stonehage Fleming is set to support the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

The donations will support the work of the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment in South Africa, helping to engage young people in disadvantaged communities.

The partnership will be delivered by Stonehage Fleming’s partner and non-profit organisation, Afrika Tikkun, to reach 685 disadvantaged young people over three years.

Established in 1956 by Prince Philip - the Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global framework which supports 14-25 year olds to learn and grow through non-formal education and learning. It operates in more than 130 countries and territories.

Chris Merry, group chief executive of Stonehage Fleming, said: “We are delighted to support such a worthy cause and proud to be part of the Award’s global ambition to reach an additional two million young people."

Carole Day, UK chief executive of Afrika Tikkun UK added: “The Award offers young people the chance to learn skills such as resilience, leadership, agency, and problem solving, giving them an opportunity to excel outside of the classroom with like-minded peers.

“Stonehage Fleming has been long supporters of the work we do, and we are proud to be able to provide the Award with their continued contribution.”

The award will be available in all five of Afrika Tikkun’s centres across Gauteng and the Western Cape.
