Suspicious financial activity reports rise by 21 percent

The number of suspicious activity reports (SARs) reported to the National Crime Agency (NCA) in the last financial year has risen to 901,255 – a 21 percent increase on the previous year.

SARs are submitted to the NCA by individuals working in regulated sectors such as banking, legal and financial services, where they suspect that transactions are being used to launder money or conceal criminal activity.
