Swiss public rejects establishment of domestic trust

The Swiss Federal Council has concluded that there is "no sufficient political consensus" for the establishment of a Swiss trust. 

Since the entry into force of the Hague Convention on Trusts in 2007, foreign-incorporated trusts have been recognised in Switzerland.

In order for Swiss actors not to have to use a foreign trust, the Swiss parliament instructed the Federal Council to introduce the Swiss trust in the Code of Obligations.
