Residential Property Disposals CGT 30 Day Payment Window

This is such a fundamental change that there is every reason to make further reference to it. From 6 April, if a UK resident sells a UK residential property he or she has 30 days to report to HMRC and pay any CGT owed. HMRC are to launch a new online service for reporting and payment.

On 25 February HMRC issued a press release with fuller details. No report is required if the sale is fully covered by PPR relief or the sale was made to a spouse or civil partner. The new rule does not apply to overseas properties.
