Monday

An industry-wide error in relation to property transfers into SIPPs and SSASs means over 120,000 people may be owed compensation of up to £80,000 each. The error has been confirmed with HMRC by Cornerstone Tax, who have already won several test case refunds for their clients.

Stellar Asset Management, an inheritance tax and estate planning specialist asset manager, expanded its AIM service. As part of the expansion, Stellar has appointed fund manager Stephen English as its inaugural in-house AIM fund manager. The firm also hired AIM portfolio manager Phil Kirwan and established its first office outside of London, in Liverpool.


Tuesday

Hilesh Chavda joined law firm Spencer West as a private client partner. When the opportunity to join the firm presented itself he couldn’t turn it down, he told eprivateclient. He joins from DKLM, where he was a senior associate from October 2019, having previously worked at Royds Withy King.

Global investor services group IQ-EQ appointed Amy LeJune as a client services director in the firm’s corporate segment in London. In this role she will manage a diverse client portfolio including global corporations, mid-cap companies and private equity houses.


Wednesday

The lockdown months have been something of a blur, and many of us will have been struck by the unpleasant realisation that we are rapidly approaching September.
