Three in 10 married Brits are trapped in unhappy marriages as they can't afford to divorce, according to research by digital wealth manager Moneyfarm.

It revealed that as many as 27 percent admit that their financial situation is the only thing stopping them from leaving their partner - with an inevitable drop in standard of living and the belief that they do not have enough money on their own to ever be single given jointly as the two main financial barriers (21 percent).
