Asia focused strategies rally in SharingAlpha fund list

News Team, 08/07/2021

Four Asia-focused products have been added to SharingAlpha’s highly rated funds list, representing the largest segment in its recent selections. This includes Federated Global Emerging Markets Fund (4.27), Fidelity Asian Focused Specialist Situations Fund (4.20), JPM Japan Equity Fund (4.12) and Kotak India Midcap Fund (4.09).

As the global economy recovers from the effects of the pandemic and multiple Coronavirus waves, it appears that multiple strategies geared towards investment opportunities have been embraced by asset management professionals.

This optimism towards growth opportunities is also reflected in the embrace of multiple Europe and North American growth strategies. This includes MS INVF US Growth Fund (4.43), Comgest Growth Europe (4.26), and AB American Growth Portfolio (4.09).

Meanwhile, the highest rated arrival on the list is European equity large cap strategy, the DWS Aktien Strategie Deutschland fund (4.48).

Continuing its success from last month’s report, Nutshell (4.89) has retained its position as the highest rated provider, with Value Partners and Lonvia close behind (both on 4.70). Odey (4.60) and Lindsell Train (4.57) make up the top five.

Elsewhere in the domestic space, Liontrust GF Specialist Situations Fund has been named the highest rated UK Equity Large Cap, and Marlborough Special Situations Fund has been named the highest rated UK Equity Small/Mid Cap strategy.

As readers of Fundeye have learned, SharingAlpha is an investment platform where professionals in the asset management industry such as fund selectors choose products and providers, building up a reputation and a greater weighting for successful choices.

To record its ratings for its reports, SharingAlpha utilises three parameters on which the overall rating is determined. These are:

  • People - The experience and competitive edge of the fund manager and their team
  • Price - The cost of the fund
  • Portfolio - The way the strategy is run in terms of risk management

The investment platform then calculates the average ratings assigned by its users to each fund, providing a score out of five. SharingAlpha only includes ratings from users that are identified as professional fund buyers. Consequently, the results do not include ratings coming from users that are, for example, non-financial industry members or fund providers.

Over the coming weeks, Fundeye will continue to publish interviews fund selectors and products most highly rated on SharingAlpha.

The publication has recently covered David Thomson’s selection process at VWM Wealth and Peter Lenart’s support for value plays at A&J Wealth.
