Jupiter AM bolsters high yield offering with short duration bond fund

News Team, 15/08/2019

Jupiter Asset Management has grown its fixed income offering with the launch of a high yield short duration bond fund, the Jupiter Global High Yield Short Duration Bond Fund.

The fund will be aided by the firm’s 19-strong fixed income team although it will be managed by Adam Darling, co-manager of the Jupiter Corporate Bond Fund.

The fixed income team is run by Ariel Bezelel, who commentating on the launch said: ‘The launch of a Global High Yield Short Duration fund is very much a natural next step for Jupiter’s fixed income strategy. High yield bonds have been a key component of our unconstrained bond funds for over ten years, meticulously researched and selected by our talented team of credit analysts.’

The fund will focus on a “high-conviction” portfolio of around 75 bonds.

The fund will invest at least 70% of its assets in global corporate high yield bonds that have an average maturity of no more than five years.

The core of the portfolio will primarily invest in European debt but will have the opportunity to invest in global issuers.

“In the prevailing global low yield environment, an optimised and actively managed portfolio of short duration high yield bonds represents a compelling risk adjusted investment,” Mr Darling said.
