Saltus hires ex-Waverton chief executive as chairman

News Team, 03/08/2021

Saltus Asset Management (Saltus) has named Andrew Fleming as chairman.

The appointment will see Mr Fleming take on the newly created role to lead Saltus’ investment arm, as the firm aims to strengthen its investment proposition and accelerate growth.

Saltus provides investment management services and financial planning solutions to private clients and smaller institutions in the UK. It was founded in 2004 as an investment management firm and has gradually expanded its services, launching Saltus Financial Planning in 2015. The firm currently employs nearly 100 people.

Mr Fleming has enjoyed an extensive career in asset management, and was previously chief executive of Waverton Investment Management, and chief executive of Kames Capital, which has since been reabsorbed into Aegon Asset Management.

Currently he works as a non-executive director of Polar Global Healthcare Trust and as a trustee of The Rank Foundation where he chairs the investment committee.

His arrival coincides with Saltus achieving its first substantial outsourced CIO mandate for a £100 million private family office earlier this month.

Jon Macintosh, managing partner at Saltus, said: “Andrew brings a wealth of experience to the role, having operated at the highest levels as an investor and business leader. His expertise and insights will ensure that Saltus’s clients benefit from the highest standards of investment management and I look forward to working closely with him in the years ahead.”
