Law firm Haynes Boone has hired Ben Watford as a partner in the firm’s investment management practice group.

The practice Mr Watford is joining focuses on structuring and establishing onshore and offshore investment funds in various jurisdictions, as well as providing ongoing counsel to fund managers, investors and service providers to funds.

Mr Watford joins from Eversheds Sutherland, where he led the firm’s hedge funds practice. He has worked on a range of alternative investment funds for fund managers, family offices, sovereign investors, and entrepreneurs, across a wide range of strategies.

Mr Watford has also previously worked at MJ Hudson and Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.

Hayes Boone managing partner Taylor Wilson commented: “Ben is a wonderful addition to our investment management team in our London office and brings deep experience in this important practice area.

“Our firm has a long history of advising fund sponsors of all sizes in the United States and Europe, and we are very pleased with this continued growth”

Mr Watford added: “Haynes Boone is the perfect platform for my practice because of its leading investment funds practice in the US and UK and its complementary strengths in finance, banking, derivatives, corporate, and litigation, among other practices.”

Mr Watford is known for his charity work, with his group, “The Winchester”, organising an annual charity ball. The group has raised over £100,000 for charity to date.
