Remember Andy Hornby anyone?
Educated at both Oxford and Harvard Universities and an alumnus of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Mr Hornby’s star waxed brightly during the 1990s and early 2000s.
Considered to be a managerial wunderkind this stage of his career culminated in 2006 when he became chief executive of HBOS, the amalgam created by the 2001 merger between Bank of Scotland (BoS) and Halifax.
And then it quickly deteriorated.
