UBP London has recruited a new chief executive, thewealthnet can reveal.

Frédéric Lamotte replaces Brett Lankester as chief executive of UBP’s London branch.

UBP said in a statement that Mr Lankester would return to a full-time client focused role, having successfully integrated ACPI teams and “contributed to significantly stepping up UBP London’s activities”. This included the acquisition of Jefferies’ private wealth management business in the UK.

Mr Lamotte joins from more than 21 years at Indosuez Wealth Management, where latterly he was chief executive for Miami and the global head for Latin America.

“Mr Lamotte’s broad international experience in senior management positions will be a key asset to carry forward UBP’s ambitious development plans for the branch and our UK market,” UBP said in its statement.

UBP’s assets under management total CHF 147.4 billion and the bank has been present in London for nearly three decades providing bespoke investment and wealth management services for private and institutional clients.

UBP acquired independent London-based investment manager ACPI in 2018, of which Mr Lankester was chief executive. He joined ACPI in 2007, prior to which he was an MD at Goldman Sachs.

Mr Lamotte’s start date will be set in the coming weeks, subject to regulatory approvals.
