Scams are posing an ever-greater threat to the legitimate financial services industry, it pains me to say.

From direct attacks on banks’ computer systems, through to lower-level fraud on their customers, financial criminality is reaching a tsunami scale.

The latest fraud in the headlines was the £2.3 million bid to steal from Coutts and its clients. A former Coutts employee, with a big gambling habit, and the ringleaders have just been jailed for the sophisticated scam.
