Bruno Schroder sadly passed away last year at the ripe old age of 86, after guiding the bank which bears his name for decades.

I have looked around for a suitable replacement for the title of Grand Old Man of City Banking. Step forward, please, Sir Henry Angest, a mere stripling of 79 and who is the chairman of Arbuthnot Banking Group, parent to Arbuthnot Latham.

Bruno was a great-great-grandson of Johann Heinrich Schröder, who arrived in London from his native Hamburg, aged 17, in 1802.
