External observers are keen to point out the challenges India continues to face – particularly compared to other emerging markets. The mistake here is to spot the very visible problems without detecting the continuing direction of movement. Day by day, little by little India is becoming a better organised economy.
True, like all politicians Prime Minister Modi lards his achievements. But his step by step, incremental reforms are working. 500 million Indians now have access to free health insurance and rural farmers have affordable crop insurance. Most villages now have electricity and 92 million toilets have been built.
