The value of donations given to charities worth over £1 million, through wills, jumped 13 percent in the last year from £800 million to £900 million, research by private wealth law firm Boodle Hatfield has found.

Donations of £1 million or more made up 56 percent of the total of £1.6 billion in gifts made to charities upon death.
