HSBC exits US retail market to focus on wealth management

HSBC is exiting its US domestic retail banking business to focus on international banking and wealth management.

The bank will close and/or sell 90 branches out of a current network of 148.

HSBC Bank USA (HBUS) will retain a small network of physical locations in existing markets. These will be repurposed into 20-25 "international wealth centres".
