HSBC’s discretionary wealth head departs

Robert Candler, the former head of HSBC’s discretionary wealth management business, has left after 33 years.

Mr Candler was made head of discretionary wealth management within the global asset management business line in 2006, having joined HSBC in London in 1986.

He spearheaded the growth of the group, growing it to manage approximately £4 billion on behalf of 5000 clients. He started his investment career at Scrimgeour Vickers Stockbrokers, where he assisted private client relationship managers, and worked there for seven years before joining HSBC as an investment assistant.
