Huge jump in City of London police account freezing orders

The City of London Police issued a 3500 percent increase in account freezing orders and account forfeiture orders in 2020.

It issued account freezing orders and account forfeiture orders against assets worth £36 million in 2020 compared with less than £1 million in 2019, according to international law firm RPC.

RPC said that the increase in the freezing and seizing of criminals' assets by the City of London Police is part of a broader effort by Government agencies to deprive fraudsters of their ill-gotten gains.
