PAM Insight, thewealthnet’s publisher, has today launched a podcast – Wealth Whispers – which focuses on the contemporary issues facing the wealth management and private client sectors.

The first episode of Wealth Whispers, kindly sponsored by IPSX, the world’s first regulated stock exchange for real estate, is available to listen to now. It is also available on all major platforms.

It focuses on entrepreneurial wealth management: Where an increasingly large regulatory burden is making it more challenging for wealth management start-ups to strike out on their own.

Nonetheless, a steady stream of people who become disillusioned with the product-led offerings at bigger wealth firms and private banks, and set up new firms that make the industry dynamic and interesting, as well as keeping the bigger players on their toes.

In this episode we sit down with Mark Perchtold, who left Goldman Sachs in 2016 to found OMBA Advisory & Investments; Will Proger, who gave up a steady salary behind in the middle of the pandemic, to launch private investment office William & Partners; and Vikash Gupta, an alumnus of Barclays Wealth and a man who wears multiple entrepreneurial hats.

They spoke about the competition for talent, how they cope with an ever-increasing regulatory burden, and what they learnt during their first years in business.

Meanwhile, Roger Clarke, head of capital markets at IPSX told us how smaller, more agile investment managers can look outside the mainstream trades to deliver value for clients.
