Jersey regulator appoints world's first regulatory board apprentice

The Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) has appointed its first board apprentice.

Catherine Watson, who is the chief internal auditor of the States of Jersey and a Chartered accountant, will join the JFSC for a year’s placement, effective 1 April 2021.

During this time, she will sit in on commission board meetings, receive mentoring and gain real-life board experience.

This is the first time an apprentice has been able to observe the board of a regulator anywhere in the world, the JFSC stated.

The JFSC signed up to be part of the I WILL programme, which is run by the Government of Jersey.
