What the new lasting power of attorney online service means in practice

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) continues its drive towards a fully digital lasting power of attorney (LPA) service.

There will be concerns that this will reduce protections and safeguards for vulnerable adults.

At present, if an LPA has been registered an attorney has to laboriously send certified copies of the LPA to each organisation in turn and hope that it reaches the correct department and then that they pick up the relevant details.
