Clim8 launches mobile app

News Team, 13/04/2021

Clim8 Invest (Clim8), an investment platform that looks to help consumers invest in companies that are focused on tackling climate change, has announced the launch of its mobile app.

The app intends of providing people the chance to make a positive impact on climate change alongside investment returns. It offers a range of portfolios to suit different risk profiles, and its core themes are clean energy, cleantech, smart mobility, clean water, circular economy, and sustainable food.

Over the last 12 months, based on a mixture of simulated and actual past performance Clim8’s balanced portfolio has returned 25.35 percent, significantly ahead of its benchmark (50 percent MSCI World Equities, 50 percent Barclays Bloomberg Global Aggregate Bond). The comparative benchmark performance over the past 10 years is 7.76 percent.

Sustainable fund inflows more than doubled in 2020 for equities reaching $348 billion compared to $166 billion in 2019. Additionally, sustainable funds tracked by Morningstar (actively managed and passive strategies) outperformed the market. In the US, the outperformance over the S&P 500 reached 400 bps, and 345 bps in developed countries ex-US.

Duncan Grierson, chief executive officer of Clim8 said: “We are launching at an exciting time for sustainable investing. 2020 was an exceptional year for environmentally-focused investment offerings such as ours, as investors looked harder at climate related opportunities. Sustainable investments have continued to outperform markets since the beginning of the Covid-19 Crisis and we believe this will continue.”

The Clim8 Invest mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple and Android app stores.
