Invest Europe appoints Gimv's Eric de Montgolfier as new chief executive officer

News Team, 14/10/2019

Invest Europe has appointed Mr de Montgolfier as its new chief executive officer. He will begin his role at the association of private capital providers and investors by the end of December.

Mr de Montgolfier joins Invest Europe from Brussels-listed investment manager Gimv, where he was head of Gimv France. In this position, he was responsible for overseeing investment and group strategy in the market. During his time there, he oversaw the repositioning and growth of the mid-market specialist’s operations in France. This increased the firm’s visibility and resulted in €270 million invested across ten transactions. Prior to his work at Gimv, Mr de Montgolfier spent 11 years as co-founding managing partner and chief operating officer at Edmond de Rothschild Capital Partners.

His appointment follows the departure of Michael Collins, who stepped down as chief executive officer in August after six years with Invest Europe.

Mr de Montgolfier begins work in his new position during an important time for the association, as it aims to increase its engagement with new and re-elected policymakers looking to set the regulatory agenda for the European Union over the next five years. Invest Europe recently published its manifesto for 2019-2024, outlining the industry’s key policy priorities for the new European Parliamentary term.

Invest Europe’s chair Thierry Baudon, said: “I am delighted to welcome Eric as the next CEO of Invest Europe. He is an exceptionally experienced and talented private equity professional who understands the challenges and opportunities the private equity industry faces in Europe today. I look forward to working with Eric and the Invest Europe team to deliver more successes on behalf of all our members.”
