Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has appointed Margaret Ammon as chief risk officer.

Ms Ammon will begin her role at the asset manager in February 2020. She will be responsible for the oversight and development of LGIM’s risk functions worldwide, and will report directly to LGIM’s chief executive officer, Michelle Scrimgeour.

Currently, Ms Ammon is chief risk officer for asset management at M&G, one of a series of risk officer roles she has held in her extensive career. Prior to joining M&G in London, she was chief risk officer for Colonial First State Global Asset Management between 2015 and 2017. She also worked as APAC head of risk for Schroders for four years (2011-2015), and as chief risk officer for Old Mutual Asset Managers in the preceding five years (2006-2011).  In addition, Ms Ammon was responsible for financial risk management at KMPG between 2000 and 2006, giving her nearly two decades of experience in this sector taking positions in the UK, Australia and Asia.

Commenting on the appointment, Ms Scrimgeour said: “Margaret brings more than 20 years of experience in risk management, having held senior roles at a number of high profile asset management companies. Her proven track record in building global risk oversight models, coupled with a strong understanding of practical application within differing asset classes and markets, will be an invaluable addition to our business.”
