Swiss regional bank, Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank (BLKB), and Lombard Odier, a Geneva-based private bank, have partnered  to launch a range of sustainable investment products.

A range of products, funds and services will be developed over the coming months, and offered primarily to BLKB clients over the next year.

To date in 2022 there has been net selling in European funds. However, ESG-focused funds  and Swiss funds, have both bucked this trend and recorded net investments for year to date.

In March 2022, Swiss UCITS funds reported  net inflows of over €5.6 billion, compared to a Europe and UK net outflows of €35.1 billion, according to the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA).

Andreas Arni, head of Switzerland at Lombard Odier, commented: “We are pleased that through this partnership with BLKB, we will be able to offer our expertise in the field of sustainability to their wealthy clients in Northwestern Switzerland in the future.”

“Sustainability is at the core of our investment philosophy - we are proud to have been chosen by BLKB to manage their latest suite of sustainable investment solutions.”

John Häfelfinger, chief executive of BLKB, said: “It is our ambition to become the first address in [the ESG] segment in the region when it comes to financial concerns.”

“As a forward-looking bank, we live sustainability as an integral part of our business strategy and we see Lombard Odier with its strong focus on this topic as an ideal partner.”

BLKB is headquartered in Liestal, Switzerland and offers banking and investment services to private and commercial clients.

It recently announced plans to launch a digital bank in Switzerland, dedicated to sustainable services.

Lombard Odier is an independent Swiss banking group based in Geneva. The firm specialises in wealth and asset management, private banking services and technology for banking.

The firm was a finalist in the 2022 PAM Awards in the sustainable investment solutions category, having won the award in 2020.
