British Small Companies hires ESG veteran to board

Venture capital trust (VCT) British Small Companies (BSC) has appointed Purvi Sapre to its board.

Specialising in sustainability and energy efficiency, Ms Sapre joins as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect.

She is currently managing director at Sustainable Development Capital and an investment manager at SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust, where she is also a fund manager.

Previously, Ms Sapre has also held positions at Green Investment Bank and with the Low Carbon Enterprise fund at Environmental Resources Management, an ESG focused consultancy.

Rupert Cook, a director at BSC VCT, commented: “We appreciate the extensive experience in sustainable investing that Purvi brings to the board.”

BSC VCT is part of YFM Equity Partners, a Leeds based firm focused on private equity that runs several investment trusts.

BSC was launched in 1996 and has around £100 million assets under management. It focuses on UK-based technology firms.
