Asset manager Candriam, part of New York Life, has appointed Anthony Macdonald as head of UK institutional business.

Based in London, he will be responsible for leading and developing Candriam’s UK institutional business and will report to David Morley, head of UK distribution.

According to the firm, this new appointment reflects the UK market as a priority market for Candriam, adding that UK investors are increasingly demanding access to more responsible and sustainable investments and Candriam is well positioned to respond.

Mr Macdonald has more than 21 years’ experience in the investment management industry. Prior to joining Candriam, he was director of UK institutional business development & consultant relations at BNY Mellon Investment Management for the last eight years. He has held other roles at BNY Mellon Investment Management over the last fourteen years.

To further strengthen the UK team, Martha Mackay, has been promoted to client relationship manager with a focus on the UK wholesale market. In addition, Sudipta Karmarker will join the UK distribution team as a trainee as part of the Investment20/20 programme, a scheme designed to attract, nurture and grow a diverse pool of talent in the investment industry. Sudipta will be based in London and will report to David Morley, head of UK distribution as part of a team of six individuals.
