UK tech fund raises £50 million to help small businesses

News Team, 20/06/2022

Williams Advanced Engineering’s (WAE) technology partnership with Foresight Group has hit £50 million raised.

The money raised has helped 20 UK-based SMEs (small and medium sized businesses) and start-ups take their products to market.

Foresight Williams Technology EIS is a fund launched in 2016 that aims to help grow SME technology and engineering businesses, allowing them access to technical advice and investment.

The fund uses WAE’s development and commercialism experience, including specialisms in electrification, lightweight materials, aerodynamics, and thermodynamics, to invest in UK businesses with high growth potential and defensible technologies.

Additionally, WAE provides promotional support to these businesses.

The 20th and latest company Foresight Williams Technology EIS Fund Investment has invested in is Audioscenic, which uses technology to create 3D sound systems, aiming to tap into a $3.8 billion audio market.

The fund has invested £1 million in Audioscenic as part of a £1.6 million round.

Craig Wilson, managing director at WAE, said: “The opportunity to collaborate with start-ups who demonstrated transformational technology and could benefit from WAE’s expertise to develop, commercialise, and scale, has allowed us to address the challenge facing most new start-ups – funding.

“Foresight Group have allowed us to solve that issue and have been the perfect partner from the start.”
