Bahamas' government cautions on 'fake news reports' regarding foreign reserves

The Bahamian Ministry of Finance has advised the public that reports of the Government “running out of money” are false. Further, it stressed that the Bahamian dollar is not facing devaluation threat.

In a statement the Ministry of Finance said that the Bahamian economy “has not survived and thrived for so long because of good fortune.”

It added that the Bahamian government has historically taken a “very prudent” approach to fiscal and monetary policy to protect itself in situations “like the emergency we face today.”
