eprivateclient's 2016 Guernsey Report launched today

, 12/01/2016

Today sees the launch of eprivateclient’s 2016 Guernsey Report. The report is published at a time when Guernsey, like other international finance centres globally, is looking to strengthen its position and reputation as a safe place to hold assets and seek advice.

The introduction of the Common Reporting Standard at the start of this year, alongside continued international pressures for transparency, means that it is vital for Guernsey to remain innovative and appealing to wealthy clients.

The report contains seven articles looking at a wide range of issues shaping the wealth management sector in Guernsey including:

- An introduction and overview of Guernsey’s wealth management sector from the chief executive of promotional body Guernsey Finance, Dominic Wheatley

- Appleby’s Adam Cole examines the role protectors play in administering a Guernsey trust

- The rise in trust litigation on the island could impact Guernsey’s trust sector according to Bedell’s Rupert Moore

- The Common Reporting Standard has arrived – Carey Olsen’s Laila Arstell looks at how will it affect Guernsey

- Guernsey’s fund industry is on the rise and Moore Management’s Andrew Maiden examines how this will benefit the Crown Dependency

- Private equity investment in trust and fiduciary businesses has seen a sharp rise in recent years, Trust Corporation International’s Michael Betley investigates why and what will be the consequences for Guernsey’s trust sector

- Ogier’s Lara Mardell looks at why a number of Asian clients are turning to Guernsey as a ‘safe pair of hands’ when looking after their finances
