Former KPMG pair launch London-based US/UK tax practice

Will Sidery, 24/10/2023

A new London-based US/UK tax practice has launched headed up by Linus Ostberg and 2022 eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 Gus Sinclair.

The pair have worked together for over five years, firstly at Moore and, for the past two years at KPMG in London.

The new firm - Ostberg Sinclair & Co - is based in Aldwych and its initial service offering will include all aspects of US/UK private client tax advice including UK taxpayers investing in US private equity and real estate to US citizens coming over to the UK and Europe.

Speaking to eprivateclient, Mr Ostberg explained that the US/UK private client space had seen considerable consolidation in the last three or four years, which had left “a large gap in the market for clients but also from a talent perspective”.

Mr Ostberg said that many clients were also finding the large firm process difficult “as fees inevitably increase whilst there is a loss of personal touch and lack of long-term consistency. We’ll be nimble, provide actionable advice and tailor services to our clients.”

The team will initially consist of Mr Ostberg and Mr Sinclair as well as a former colleague but would be aiming to grow in the next year.

“We’re looking to hire talented individuals who may not want to work for a large firm or institution filled with process, red tape or rigid promotion processes,” Mr Ostberg said.

“It’s a small, specialised but highly competitive talent market and we are confident that we can attract the best of the best.”
