Government delays 'death tax' implementation due to Brexit discussions

The UK government’s planned probate fee hike, branded by the private client industry as a “death tax”, has been delayed by at least three weeks due to Brexit discussions, according to media reports.

In order for the new structure, which was due to come into force 1 April 2019, to be introduced, an approval motion needs to be scheduled in the House of Commons. After this vote it will take 21 days for the statutory instrument to come into force.
