The turnaround time for HMRC to process tax related tasks such as self-assessment tax returns has experienced substantial delays, according to tax refund specialists RFT Tax Refunds.
HMRC’s efficiency data revealed that the time taken for them to answer a call has increased by over a minute in the last year, with four in 10 customers waiting more than 10 minutes for a call to be answered.
Additionally, customer complaints increased by 568 a year.
